If Johns Island thinks it is a good investment to develop over angel oak turf.... then my faith in the state has gone down. Not only is Angel oak an attraction for both tourists and residents, but it is our documentation of history. It provides a good source of clean air. There will be a great backlash if something happens to the trees. I support those who are trying to make sure it doesn't happen. I am telling you, if that tree and the land around it gets paved over, or torn down or dug up, there will be a significant environmental backlash that no one wants to see.
